Garage Sale finds (FREE)

Went to 3 garage sales, this is what was in the "FREE" stuff box... They all work! with a little TLC...
6" Crescent wrench
Kraeuter 1801-8 1/2 lineman pliers.
Pliers, 6 1/2" & 7" one has a (IH) in circle)
Fairmount Cleve 10" adjustable wrench.
Fairmount Cleve 8 1/2" DOE, 1" & 7/8"
Stanley clamp no. H157-6in.
Diagonal cutters; 6" Steelcraft tool MFG. Corp. & 5" Cresent 945-5
Speedo Sharpener central states mcg. USA. St.Louis, MO. Licensed Mfrs. Pat#'s 1558194
grinding wheel for mower blade.
Great Neck Utility knife.
table saw square.
Long-nose pliers. Oxwall Tool co. British Zone"

Nice scores!  For all of them to be free, it strikes me that the neighborhood is fairly upscale, eh?  Reminds me of the old joke that "Cocaine is God's way of telling you you make too much money."

That butt ugly Stanley pressed steel bar clamp, will save your life.
  These were the first 6" bar clamps I ever had.  I used to have 3, but something happened to one of them.
  Even now, when every single clamp I own is pressed into service, these clamps still save the day. 
 
 I like a fine wire wheel for pliers. Look for one with long bristles, and not a lot of them.
Use it at kind of an angle. Don't hog straight in, in other words.

Wish we had free boxes like that.  The closest I ever came was a pile of miscellaneous bits that my son and I sorted through in the rain at an estate sale.  I got my Stanley trammel points from that pile (found one, figured the pony had to be in that pile somewhere, dug through to find the other), and some other nice things; but I've never repeated that luck.

I don't live in an "Upscale" neighborhood, just Old-middleclass, but notice the young guys don't appreciate old tools from their elders,  if not new & shiny.. it's just junk to them!  SAD ;(   but good for tool pickers..  :)
As lots of things need to be shipped in, it cost more. but that's why I go to garage sales...

Thanks Scottg; the tools only needed some hand wire brushing to get the crud off, & WD40 to loosen joints..
but I have a fine wirewheel for the tough stuff...  & yes the light angle touch works great...

after cleaning, read the long nose pliers,  "Oxwall Tool Co, British zone"..

any info on this? & Fairmount Cleve?  will be checking the net...

Looks like oxwall tools was from occupied Germany? WwII British zone...

Fairmount tools. Cleveland, look like quality tools.

& note pliers handle has screwdriver tip.
