Allen Synchronizer
« on: December 29, 2014, 07:14:50 AM »
Hello all,

Can anyone provide me with some more information on this Allen Synchronizer, please?

I have no idea when it's from, nor what its purpose is; or was.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Nic

It's for checking and adjusting auto distributors. Allen made test equipment , I used their equipment in the 60's when I worked at an ignition shop .
This link should help.

We called it a degree wheel. Set on the crankshaft to determine  the correct timing of the distributor.
Google Allen degree wheel.

From the 1930's era, used for synchronising twin ignition and Two-arm single ignition distributors.

What a wealth of knowledge this place provides. :D

Thanks, chaps.

Pity mine is incomplete. I'll call the guy I bought it from and ask him to sift through his garage for the leads...

Kind regards,

Nic

It's for when Woody Allen gets out of synch and starts playing his clarinet off-tempo.
