The site doesn't say anything about provisions for absentee bids, or a catalog listing, but the photos show a predominantly implement wrench auction  on the wrench side of things. - I spotted an item or two I've never seen before:

For example, I spotted a STORTZ combination wrench :

Also lots of other tools, catalogs, collector magazines, etc.

I see a few interesting catalogs there.

did not see any Ellis wrenches.

I see a wrench in there you NEVER see. Looks like I have a road trip.

I see a bunch of painted ones in odd colors. Are those colors correct for the tools?

To the immediate upper right of the STORTZ is a Barcolo Kitchen multitool.  In it's blackened state it shouldn't bring more than $5. (IMHO)

You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Was wondering about that myself. The orange in particular is eye numbing.

There is a plierench sitting next to a perfect handle screwdriver that has peeling black paint.  The plierench isn't very interesting.....

There is also an double ended Elmont Adjustable Wrench with the winged nuts in a box with what appears to be a Bahco wrench?

It would be tough to do absentee bids on a lot of it, how much can you bid on a painted wrench from afar? There is at least one that would bring over $1,000, but being painted might make it a bargain for an in house bidder, as it might well be a brass repop painted to hide the brass.

When the wrench club started, there was debate about painting tools to keep them from rusting.  The bright color ones have likely had those coats of paint for at least a couple decades.    Dad used spray lacquer but that yellowed with age.   Some current collectors use flat black with white highlighting for  markings.

Does anybody know if Baxter gets beyond top prices like that Chupp in Shipshewana appears to get?
No sense of me going out there if the prices are beyond what you have to pay other places. Such as $1,700 for a 300-400 cutout.

To go or not to go that is the question. Don't see anything I can't live without but its always nice to find a bunch of wrenchs in one location.

I can live without all of them, but there is one VERY high end wrench (if it's not a repop) sort of hidden. Some oddballs I'd like to take a closer look at too. Plus at least 3 mid range wrenches that I don't find out my way. Still would give me an excuse to take a mid-winter road trip. I'm having auction withdrawals and they suck!!

rustcollector,  remember, coulda, woulda and shoulda.

yes, boring winter time can get to folks, you might meet some interesting people to mix with.

I have had remorse from not going somewhere that was on my mind, we only live once.

sometimes the smell of rust gets our system running again.
