Been picking up Bell System tools when I see them since I have a BS tool box. I've never seen one of the till this past weekend. Paid $15 for it and checked ebay to see about what they were going for and noticed some have C's but most had D's after BS.
Anybody know what the difference is?

I know where you could get a nice Bell splicer's trailer with an aluminum box to put that in.

I found a pair of those, not sure now what letter is the suffix.   I did recall that they are exactly the same, down to the latches as the first aid kits on the armored vehicles I crewed on.   They had a big Red + rather than Bell of course.  Even the same OD paint.  Gasket under the lid?
