Scraper or something
« on: September 03, 2015, 01:37:30 PM »
I've had their tools before but I searched the Bay and google and couldn't find this thing.  I've had it sitting around for a while so thought I'd post it.  It measures 12" long.  Any help would be appreciated... thanks!

I think it was born a weeding tool with a V ground in the front of the blade.
Someone ground it down to make a scraper. At least that's what I did to mine.
Guessing here.
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

I'm thinking gasket scraper.  I have one of these, too, though I haven't looked for a manufacturer.  In my experience, such as it is, the weeding tools are thicker than Chip's or mine.

"TrowelCollector" blog has a short history of Wm. Johnson - Newark, NJ (where I was born)...

Might it be a bearing scraper?

Ran across a William Johnson garden tools ad in March 1915 HARDWARE DEALERS MAGAZINE & put it in FLICKR (https://www.flickr.com/photos/mvwcnews/21070845788 )   Grind off the "prongs" from an asparagus knife & you're left with a what's it.
