Nice antique wrench on eBay. 4 days left!
« on: September 15, 2015, 05:31:01 PM »
There is a nice early patent wrench up for auction on eBay. There is 4 days left, and it is out of my price range at the moment, especially with the Canadian currency.

Here is the link, and I hope someone sees the beauty as much as I do in this piece...

(Btw, I have no affiliations with the seller... I just thought I would let the community know about this nice wrench.)

looks like the Thompson wrench, Thompson was from Maine.

check patent # 234,091     Nov. 2, 1880

I think that I have one here someplace.

You THINK you have one?
Dang!  If I had one, I would know for sure.
That is quite an item.

Northwoods;  I will try to explain about my wrenches being misplaced,

they could be in the garage or the shed or the house or even in my box trailer,
and this is with no inventory list, which by the way, I was going to start making
about 35-40 years ago and never got around to it.

which also brings up the questions, what do I have and where could they be. ???????????????

NOTE;    " possible future problem for my children." (all over 50)

Also the Canadian equivalent patent ( http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=13,865&country=CA )
I need to add an advertising image or two to those DATAMP entries to show the range of sizes & styles produced.

Turnnut & mvwcnews - Thank you both for those patents!

I've never seen a wrench like this one, but unfortunately it is out of my price range for now (not to mention eBay fees, shipping and the Canadian exchange rate)

I hope that someone on this forum buys the wrench. It would be one super cool addition!

Ebay fees?? Never any Ebay fees that I've known of for buyers, only for the seller. The shipping from here to Canada I can see would be a huge deterrent. Shipping fees have gone crazy for international stuff.

Rustcollector (BTW, great username!),

It is true that buying anything on eBay in Canada is a huge drain on the wallet. Even people shipping items FROM CANADA, sell their things in USD.

Not to mention that eBay's exchange rate is whatever eBay wants it to be (and not what is actually is through the bank of Canada)

(Oh well, I think my eBaying days are over) - Just means more time for garage sales and auctions!

Note to Turnnut:   Good grief!
Note to AntiqueCollector:  I hate auctions.  Too many crazy people with too much money!
I hate (most) antique stores.  Too many overly-optimistic/stubborn/uninformed people.  But I love garage sales!
