Proto Ratchet Wrench

We've probably discussed it here before but it hit home for me this week. I ordered a few reversible combination ratchet wrenches to replace the badly worn ones in my set. They are Proto, when the new ones arrived I was surprised to see Made In Taiwan printed on the packaging. Not on the wrench just the package.

Yeah that topic has been beat to death on one of the other forums. Unfortunately the FTC only requires the package be labled with coo.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. A Proto tool made in a another country. Tools are dead to me now. I am going to start collecting meat grinders. Where will it all end.

about 3 weeks ago I got some proto screwdrivers an some pliers, pretty sure both were made in the USA. It seems tool manufactures like any other manufacture often outsource to save a buck. I still prefer American made even if it costs more.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

When all of our people are made in China, too.

I am finding more and more parts being made overseas but the packaging says USA. Found out - after the counter guy opened the sealed package up - that yes, the part was foreign-made as he suspected. The Made in USA label meant the packaging.
