another what is it?
« on: February 15, 2016, 10:09:31 AM »
It's not mine and it's the only pic I have. the 3 fingers are cast iron and show some signs of a coating that has come off.
The wooden handle looks to be about 4-6" long, I was thinking of some type of a warming device for a your bed or to wind wool around. I think I've seen one before at an old farm auction. What do you think it is?

I think we had this before but I can't find the post. Jim Moffat has it in his corn sheller book and states that it is often thought to be a corn sheller or a fish scaler but he found a patent for it as a meat tenderizer. There is another version very similar but I think is a different size that I have seen described as a candy makers tool but I forget the exact use. I can look up the patent in Jim's book tonight when I get to the house unless somebody else has it handy.

http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=613572&typeCode=0 in DATAMP includes a 1904 ad copy as the 2nd image.  It's a DAISY.
