Unusual West German adjustable wrench

Other than a few numbers and W Germany, no markings

Works via a spring loaded wedge. You slide the moving jaw with your finger and it stays where it stops. To loosen you push on the point of the wedge - sometimes you have to tap it with something.

I'm leaning towards Dorn or Instant-Grip. I've seen similar on the interwebz but can't find a match for this.

FWIW, great little tool (8") unlike a regular adjustable wrench this has absolutely no play in the jaws at all.

Nice wrench! But are you certain that it says W Germany? The only reason I ask is because that would date it from the late 1940's at the earliest, and the design reminds me of wrenches from an older era..?

I thought the same thing when I first looked at it.  I think it is pre-WWII Germany, European style adjustable.

I have one that is about 10 inches long and is marked "Made in Germany" "Patent" and at the end of the handle by a hang hole is "RG"

No, I'm certainly not sure. In fact when I look at the photo here rather that the actual tool under the magnifying glass, what I thought was a "W" looks more like "IN"

Ah, so perhaps it is a "light" stamp that says MADE IN GERMANY, like the one Les has? That would make sense. And if yours is an 8" and the one Les has is a 10", I wonder how many other sizes there are out there?
