Shapleigh's wrench

I know they are not rare or anything, but this is my first Shapleigh's.  No pix, but here is a clear description of my open end wrench.

A1     - 11/16 - - SHAPLEIGH'S  - - 19/32 -

Anyone know what the A1 represents or who might have made it?
