I started carving on a peace of Curly Maple and this is what I came up with...

It's pretty, but !   Personally, IMHO I'll stick with my original walnut checkered grip that will stay put in my hands when they are wet, muddy, sweaty or what ever. 
Pretty doesn't work in an action situation.  Sorry.

I have never had an issue with a smooth grip with sweaty hands in the 30 some years of shooting in the hot Arizona desert...
