No idea about the markings on the left object. If I had to guess I would guess it is some sort of buckle for straps to go through of some sort. I really have no idea thoe.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

I did a quick search and got lucky (which doesn't happen very often). The one on the left is apparently a gizmo for holding and animal's mouth open so medicine can be administered.

Wow, thanks Plyerman.  I never would have guessed that!  Did you use any of the keywords on the tool to find that patent?  I tried searching the names on the patent website and went through a bunch of results but didn't find that one.

The google gods were definitely smiling on me today. I searched "Shores Cedar Rapids Iowa" and found reference to the old Shores-Mueller manufacturing and distributing company. Then I went to Google Patents and searched for "Shores-Mueller."  The correct patent came up on the first page.

Wish it always went that easy!  :embarrassed:

I tried looking up images to find that other part in your photo.  I searched for "antique veterinary tools".  Lots of creepy looking vet and medical tools came up.  Remind me never to do that again!

The other thing looks like a support for something that folds like a folding table leg or may be an ironing board of old

The item on the right is what supports the folding leaves on small wooden tables, think round, 1920s and earlier.  The T end is the hinge, and the spring end is just that, squeeze it together to release the leaf.
