another fence repair tool?

Hey gang, it's my first post  :smiley:
 I have seen fence tools similar to this, but they all have a pointed pry head on one side and a hammer head on the other and this one just has two different hammer heads. I was thinking that the two holes in the jaws might be for twisting wire??? It has a faded Utica patent mark on the handle. 10 inches overall.

The holes are definitely for twisting wires for fence repair.

Looks like a fine example of patent 794,064, from 1905

in reading the patent write up,  it seams as though the jaws in the bottom picture shown by mdtools is for removing fence staples.

interesting about the staple theory, strange that it would only work on one size of staples though.

 he applied for the patent a little over 112 years ago,  how many companies made staples. ?

 take for example hog ring pliers, some companies sold hog ring pliers that fit their rings , while others made pliers that could
 be used on different sizes.
