Okay, I'm stumped
« on: August 02, 2016, 04:24:39 PM »
This is a metal container (almost) full of similar items, the only difference being the height of the post in the middle. The underside of the parts has a recess, presumably to span a gap or allow for a protrusion of some sort on the item it is applied to. Anybody ever see anything like this in captivity?

Can't read them very well.  Is it "GR plus a number"?  Looks like there are two different types of devices?
And the numbers; do the taller ones have larger numbers?  In millimeters, perhaps?
Do the posts sit in a hole and lift the other end to a specific height?
They go with something.  But what?
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

WAG- Do each have a very slightly different arc? Some sort of go-nogo measurement possibly?

Some sort of a specialty gage set it seems to me, but for what?

Perhaps it's just the perspective of the pics, but the posts seem to have different circumferences as well???

A go/no go gauge set would be my best guess.

The only thing that makes me think otherwise is there not all finished on each side. All the gauges I have used are finished to a finer finish an smooth even on sides not used for measuring.

where at least I know I'm free.

who gave that right to me.

They all have the same arc, and the posts are all 11/16 inch in diameter. The difference is in the height of the post, and the numbering. The faces of the posts have numbers stamped into the, and the bodies have a number cast into them. The bodies are consistently numbered with CR 90, except for one of the shorter ones, which has CR 1. The numbering on the tops of the posts are not consecutive - for instance CR 201 is shorter than some of the taller ones, and CR 70 is shorter than CR 69. Otherwise, the lower the number, the shorter the post.

I've never seen it before that I recall , but I'm thinking it's to set up some sort of differential or gear case?
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

what is strange is the bigger ones don't look like they are used with the smaller ones?
big one on one side a small on the other then measure the distance between the two?
One thought is for setting up drum brakes or just the shoes, but most of them us a type of caliper.

How accurate does on need their saw set or nutcrackers?
