I love the few Sk metal boxes I have. I dought these new ones won't be as good as original.I still found it interesting. Anyone else looking forward to these?

Smart move on their part.  They figured out how many people snap those things up when they find them at yard sales.

I've found enough of them (S-K and other folks) at yard sales that I won't be a customer, but I imagine they'll get plenty of customers.

What about the other SK boxes? I mean the proper toolboxes, not
the socket-set boxes. I have a couple of the latter (I grew up with a set
of 1/2"-drive SK 12-pointers, and still have the box, as pristine as my father
kept it in the fifties), but have also laid hands on some of the former:
SK-marked tool boxes. Most recently, one  of the long slope-roofed
carpenters' (?) boxes. Maybe 38" or 40" long? Heavily made, in the usual
pebbly dull green (powder coat?). Found at an estate sale for $10 or $15
with only some mild surface rust on the inside, clean outside, nice crisp SK
medallion.  Is there interest in those?

Sorry, make that 32 inches. Things loom larger in the imagination
than on the tape measure.

I deffintly think it's smart on their part, but only if the quality remains high an price stays reasonable.

I personally have the newer Sk plastic boxes an the latches wore out after a year of light use. The tools are great but the case doesn't stay shut now. At work we have Proto plastic cased socket sets in the smaller service trucks. The Proto cases are similar to Sk in function but multiple Proto cases cracked in the winter cold.

I mean people spend hundreds of dollars on these tools an the cases are cheap plastic. SK warranties the tools but not the case, according to both their customer service call center an local distributor. I don't know about Proto an their warranty of the cases. Despite the cases I still think SK an Proto make great tools today an many years ago.

I now have 4 of the Sk metal cases. None of them store sockets but just other tools. I use to have more of the metal cases.

A larger Sk box would be nice to have. I remember seeing a Sk Machinest type chest at auction one time. It was nice but more then I could pay at the time. Not sure if it was Sk made or just branded Sk. It did have the nice green Krinkle type paint an emblem.

Just wanted to correct what I said earlier.

SK plastic cases are not technically covered under written warranty, however sometimes they will warranty them.

I called Sk for prices on a metal case out of curiosity, two weeks ago. Most likely wasn't going to buy but I was somewhat intrested. I asked an said Ime tired of breaking plastic cases. I didn't expect anything to be done about it but she got the prices on the metal cases(witch I wrote down but lost) she then offered to transfer me to a warranty person. I figure ahh ile complain again but dought anything will be done. I explained how I love Sk tools but the plastic cases wear out. He said if I send the broken cases in or email a pictures of the cases to customer service with a claim number he gave me they will send new cases. This Thursday I got two new cases free of charge.

I don't know why I was told in past I can't warranty cases an this respresntive said there not covered under written warranty but he will send new ones. Either way I am happy with Sk.

Nice!  Somebody at S-K understands what "customer service" means.
