Two mystery tools

Hi there,

I was cleaning out an old tool shed at our family's cabin and while there are many old tools in there, there are two that no one can identify.

I would appreciate your help and expertise identifying what these tools are and what they were used for!

The first tool has HIGHLAND nicely displayed across the top as well as an illedgeable patent number.

The second tool has no markings on it whatsoever.

The second looks like the handle to a two-man saw, e.g. a cross-cut or pit saw.

I don't recognize those interesting tools, but just FYI, it is easier to view objects when pictured on a plane background rather than that quite busy one which you used.

Could that first one be some sort of lightweight carpet stretcher?

I think it is some kind of stretcher also.  The jaws are similar to leather pullers. Another possible direction could be a leather stretcher for making boots or shoes
