A friend called me up all excited about a "rare old wrench" he found at a garage sale, said he'd mail it to me for a late birthday gift. I love it, it's going in the tool bag I carry in my truck.

He is correct, that is a very rare wrench, you might even say one of a kind.

Two junk wrenches made one good one, with a little farmer skills. 

I made a T head wrench, the century late new improved model out of two not too special beat up wrenches.

    Just because it was possible, no other reasons required. 

It is in fact something special to all who can appreciate the frugal man.  His name is forgotten but his wrench speaks for him.

If he lived in NYSEG territory in NY, he spent more in electric turning his welder on than either wrench was worth to begin with.

I've never seen this, but I have seen lots of wrenches broken on one end and kept because the owner could still use the other end. This guy took it one step further.  Good rainy day or winter day project.

Are both ends the same size? if not then maybe he made it for a special purpose.
Question for rustcollector, just thinking abut costs, what are electricity rates in the area your referring to?.
I live in northern British Columbia Canada and our rates are as follows.
  we pay a basic charge of $0.1835 per day or about $5,50 to $ 6.00 per month depending on days in the month.
  then the first 700 KW hours are charged at $0.0858 per KW hour. This rate fluctuates because some months we've had up to 1350 KW
  hours at the lower rate and I have asked about this but never got a straight answer, got tired of waiting on hold for a supervisor to come
  on the phone and answer my questions.
  Any thing over the basic rate for that particular month is charged at $ 0.1287 per KW hour.
These are residential rates, I know industrial and commercial user have different rates which are a little lower but I don't recall how much lower.
Be interested to know what others are paying.
