Looks like a tooth from a sickle bar on a mower. No idea what it would be used for on the wood.

Perhaps a homemade knife for cutting the string on round bales of hay?

With a farm background agree with string cutter for baled hay, often used in the barn to separate the bales for feeing.   Why?   because in the barnyard pocketknives are easy to loose, and this one can be used with gloves.

I have two that are very similar to this one. Two different guys who both had lots of years on me told me they were for cutting the twine on hay bales.
