This special presentation plow plane was made by the Ohio Tool Company in 1857 as a retirement gift for Mr Montgomery who was a long time manager at the company. It was part of a 2 day auction selling the antique tool collection of Cliff Brown. It sold today for a mere $60,000.00 plus I think a 10% buyers premium.  Rosewood, Ivory and silver trim. Just a little out of my league.

i'll say. That being said it is a beautiful piece.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

I would consider that price when I hit my 3rd million.

I'm working in my 3rd million because I gave up on the first two.....

Skip, Cliff Brown had it in his collection for a number of years and it has been in written about in antique tool publications.  Jim Leamy made a few reproductions of it. I'm guessing it came up in a family auction or estate sale and that is how Cliff acquired it.

Seems like the really unique ones like this are family treasures until a generation isn't interested in it any longer or they can't decide how to keep it in the family because several family members are fighting over it.
