I recently picked up another silver Craftsman tool box. This is the type you tote around. This is just like the other million C-man sold, except it is a older one. It has what I call the banner C-man ID name tag that is made of aluminum and is riveted on the front of the box. The carry handle appears to be cast aluminum or maybe die cast pot metal. Any idea as to it's age ? It is in good condition and I was going to remove the ID name tag and use it on some other thing. I have a old all stainless steel night stand that came out of a hospital and I made it into a bottom box for my Proto top chest my late mother in-law bought me 37 years ago. I added a C-man ID tag to it many years ago creating a puzzle for it's next owner. I am thinking that I will leave my current find as it is. Sorry I still can't do pictures.

Dang it, I remember reading an internet article on C-man boxes and they dated the ones with the aluminum handle. I want to say late 50's. But I'll try and dig up the article.

I knew when I found it, it was different than my others. I will leave it as is. I will keep looking for another C-man tool I can get the name tag from. I like those little C-man boxes. I really like the ones with 3 hasps instead of just the one hasp type. I keep pullers in one, hole saws in another, grinding discs and wire wheels in another. I have two full of P&C brand tools. I have about  8 or 9 right now and I am always looking for more. Most were bought for around $5.00 or a little more.

I, too, like the Craftsman totes. Got my apprentice into one as well. They restore nicely, and are very functional.

bonneyman, that is the style I like most with the 3 latches. I feel 3 latches makes for a longer lasting box. Whoever made the single style latch boxes was cutting corners. I prefer the small size ones because they fit on my work bench shelves better, but I will take any I can find. Thank's for the pictures.
