Automobile branded wrenches info?
« on: December 22, 2018, 07:53:20 PM »
Are there any references or guides to wrenches and other related tools that might have been included with a new automobile "back in the day"??
Ford marked wrenches seem to be fairly common.
How about other autos?
Any collector groups or listings or guides available?
Thanks

I'd love to find a collectors group for them too

so far its just a brand by brand discovery for me.

Many toolkits had  wrench company tools like Fairmont  or Vlchek for Jeeps

Other wrenches had auto names but aren't auto wrenches  ( Nash wrenches seem to be for Nash pumps, not cars)

I have a few branded wrenches for US cars ; Cadillac, Pierce Arrow,  and some for trucks; Mack White

But I have yet to find a site that puts all this info together

I didn’t know that there were "Nash" pumps. I’ve got a small DOE with Nash forged on it and had assumed it was for the cars. Thanks Skip!

General Motors tool kits in the 40's thru 60's were Vlchek & McKaig-Hatch sometimes with pieces from both brands in the same kit.   No GM markings that I have seen during that period.  There was a bunch of cheap Goodwrench tools during the 70's & 80's.  AC Delco ignition tools during 50's & 60's.

DORRIS MOTOR CO. (St. Louis, ca. 1910) -- made autos & trucks.  Markings stamped.  I have 6" & 12 " COES AUTO wrenches overstamped "DORRIS."  Example of marking shown here from a long-ago eBay lot; not in my collection.
