I hope everyone here is well and practicing safe social activities.

As for me- What I have been doing during this strange time- Sleeping late, drinking coffee, having lunch, checking the mail, taking naps, checking the internet ,fixing supper, washing dishes.

OH WAIT! That is what I have been doing for a long time!

We're under shelter in place orders here in the SF Bay Area.  People are encouraged to go out and walk, as long as they stay appropriate distances apart.  I've been darkly entertained by the photos of people outside right next to each other; and also by all the public servants telling us to stay appropriate distances apart while they stand shoulder-to-shoulder at the microphone.  SHOW us how it's done, people!

I could easily stand two months of being told to stay on my property, and I'd get through about 10% of my list!

Yeah Bill, I almost wish they would tell me to stay home - for a couple or three weeks.  Here in New York State businesses are supposed to be under order to have 75% of workers work from home, as of today.  I think businesses that can actually do this are few and far between.
My boss has just squeaked through a very slow winter - nearly zero sales of snowblowers, new or used, due to mild weather.  Having just reached the point where people want their mowers serviced for spring, (and many panicking about getting service), he does not want to send anyone home.  In fact he had a guy come in who works for him part time.
  Hoping to stay employed.

Most of the time I work in an office building near downtown Houston, as of this week, at company orders, I am working from home.  We did this for 5 months right after Harvey hit so we are prepared. My better half loves having me home even if I am tied to my computer.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Not easy for, say, a trucking firm.

It's gonna be tough.  The hit on the economy will be deep and long, and we all know who will be hit hardest by the projected high unemployment rate, and it won't be people with high incomes.

Both our sons are self-employed, and don't qualify for unemployment insurance.  I haven't seen much of anything in the news reports about how sole proprietors/self-employed folks are going to be helped, except expanded small business loans - which will just put off the day that their income becomes unsustainable, when they have to repay the loan!

Hello, Guys. Best wishes to all who are struggling. Campus is closed where I work, faculty & staff working from home.Construction in the area still goes on, as in the roof on the Carrier Dome, and the new ( almost complete ) National Veteran's Resource Center. My group is considered "essential personnel", so we are still working to keep the place running, ( Plumbers, HVAC, Electricians) and repair work/emergencies keep the Carpenters busy!! Hang in there, Lou

We are all at home except my son inlaw who trims and takes down trees for a living and is not around many people except co-workers. The people he works for have a farm and give him fruit, veggies and eggs to take home. I have been watching the free section of Craigslist and it has been flooded with lots of goodies that I can't go get. Most of all I miss my trips to the Habitat Restore. I have been out in the garage for about a week building myself a mini bike. I will need to order a jackshaft, chain and throttle, but have everything else I need. We has a big surprise yesterday. My brothers girl friend of 35 years ago called our local Fred Meyers food store and ordered $399.00 worth of food sent to our house. She then called Costco and ordered a bunch of over the counter meds to be sent to us. Still waiting on those. Got plenty of pine cones for our bathroom needs. Need to fill up the car and a couple of gas cans for the generator just in case. Got plenty of protection in case those hippies in Oregon try to cross the river and invade us. Well you all take care, stay healthy and safe.

Self-check attendant (my job title) at that big retailer with 4,700 outlets is not a job that can be done from home or from behind a plexiglas shield.  My daughter (the nurse) says I should quit working -- but there is that nagging "cash flow" issue running around my brain.

Northwoods

You are in a bad spot.  Get some protection.  Good luck.

MVWC needs you, at least use a mask and hand sanitizer.  I think you and almost all of mvwc are in the over 55 category, myself included.
Be Careful!!!!!!!!!!!!
