This is the two Thorsen  wrenches I found in my estate sale toolbox.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Solid wrenches! They made a short and long style. I'm working on a set myself, 1950-1970 according to AA. Only size of either style I don't have is the 16mm.

I don't have any 16mm in that style either. I do have one in the more modern Vee wrenches.

Thanks for looking, Don. I thought the 18mm was going to be the impossible one to find. Found that, can't find the 16mm. Go figure.

Did they make a 16mm? Maybe they expect you to use a sae 5/8?
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

Yeah, they made them. I did some catalog checking. Back when those wrenches were made, 16mm and 18mm bolts and nuts were extremely rare. I worked on a lot of air cooled Volkswagens back in the day and everything was 10, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 19mm. The demand for the 16 and 18mm wrenches was probably minimal.

1988 catalog shows 7-19, 21, 22, and 24 in that "v groove" style.
and....
(pretty sure this is a 1983 catalog... at least the prices sheets are dated! )
catalog TD-1008-10 shows same as above - all "v groove" style.
(which begs the question: when did they go from the flat panel to the "v groove" style?)

Meridian Tool in Oklahoma City had a boatload of the "v groove" combination wrench sets, but they do NOT ship orders.

(sorry about crappy images - haven't got the scanner up and working yet.)
