Names may vary but have heard them called "snatch blocks", is that thing nearly 24 inches long?

Same here. I have one hanging from the eaves of our porch. Rescued from an old farm nearby.

Yes, I've heard them called snatch blocks all my life.  That's all that I know one by.  I will measure it tomorrow but I believe it is well in excess of 24" long.....but is nothing close to the size of the one measuring over 48" long that I had to move out of the shop floor with tractor/boom.
