I was digging around in an old coffee can full of tossed sheet metal sockets, and found this 9/16"  4V118 S-K* socket for a 1/2" ratchet.  I know there are collectors of S-K sockets, and the ones I've seen have been as good as any. This one, however, has NOT GUARANTEED stamped on it.

Why would anyone have bought this socket?

*Sorry, but I mis-copied the number in the first posting.

Ultra thin wall for some special application....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Nice looking old S-K socket.  I run across lots of S-K, but have never seen one like yours in the wild.

Its a special socket for Ford connecting rod cap bolts, I have 3-4 of them, ground for clearance so the socket will go to the bottom of the nuts.

Oddly enough, I came across one exactly like it today.............now in a box headed for dimwittedmoose.

A lot of specialty sockets are not guaranteed. I have a bunch of carb sockets primarily Snap-on and Plomb  (mostly for jets) that are marked not guaranteed.

The sockets of that general design with that knurled banding design were some of the finest sockets S·K ever made.
All my taste is in my tools.
