Small But Excellent Haul
« on: August 19, 2012, 05:50:14 PM »
Gang,

Stopped by the local "Dirt Mall" this morning (yesterday was rained out) and picked up a few excellent alloy artifacts.

The haul:

1) Thorsen 77NR Long Handle 1/2 drive ratchet with cover (not shown), VG condition, and ready to rock.

2) Bonney LD22 11/16" 12Pt deep socket, EXCL condition, a real beauty including cross bar hole feature, ca. 1947-1963.

3) Unknown no. 301-8 1/8" x 8"  blade style wood handled screwdriver.  VG condition, long, slender, and shapely to boot.

Here's some photo's for your amusement:

Oily-- My new Thorsen 77NR has a gear cover and the newer stylized Thorsen MFD USA logo.  I think it dates to the end of the open head ratchet era (just prior to the introduction of the newer round heads).  I have quite a few Thorsen open head ratchets if you would like to see them and compare minutia.  Should I post them in your Thorsen thread or start a new thread?

Thanks Branson. I actually like small hauls; it's easier to log in and research the tools when they are in small batches.

Those are some fine pieces. Did they come that clean? If not, What do you do to get them so nice. I think I've jacked up a few with the wire wheel.

pipehack,

The tools were in very nice condition when I found them.  I just sprayed them with 409 and wiped them off with a damp rag.  Honest
