Hi Guys say , I have a Indestro super "3239" 1/2 inch ratchet the one that has the cover over the gears on the head, My ratchet has a bad gear in it,,my dad got crazy with it back in the 80's when i was a kid,, my dad has past on and I would love to get his ratchet back to working condition, I have found another gear. Heres the prob,, I have taken out the clicker ,ball and spring out. and have looked at the main gear and shaft that goes thru the ratchet head for hours and I can not figure out how it is put together , I don't know how to get them apart, does some one know the secret to get the gear and shaft out of the head . please help, Thanks guys.. Welcome to Tool talk, Daniel.
I don't think they were designed to be taken apart. Take a look at this thread- http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?topic=128.0
Though I don't think Bonneyman has shown an open gear yet.
By the way, your picture didn't show up from Photobucket.

I have had "sprung" Thorsen designed ratchets that were pulled open before I got them.
I closed them back up using some torch heat and a vise to press the top and bottom parallel again.
Papaw is correct. This design was not supposed to ever fail,,,,therefore never would it need to be repaired. HA!!!

As yet I have not posted a pick of an open-head ratchet. I saw a pair at a used tool store last week, and, after asking around, think maybe I might go grab them. For photo's and reselling.
As far as I know, they are not repairable - though, some ingenuity might prevail.
