SPRR Co???
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:28:25 PM »
Found this over the weekend.  I think it is SPRR Co (Southern Pacific RR Co), but the first R, if it is an R, is pretty beat up.  In one picture, I tried liquid paper
to bring out the letters.  Still hard to make out the stamping.

"Co" is unusual for SPRR, but not for SP&PR Co, however the spacing doesn't seem right for that....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Agree with Rusty that generally railroad stampings end in RR without the Co. but Railroadiana site in their lantern and globe survey shows both SPRR and SPRR Co. for Southern Pacific. Go figure.
