Picked this up today at a flea market, its not in the best condition but I got it for a descent price.
Saw it on the Wrenching News site, its 0583.
Z2 Syracuse (Syracuse chilled plow co./deere)
10.5" 2 hammerheads, sm. end up variation.

Very nice. I would have been all over that one.

Great find!  It's made of malleable cast iron which means it will clean nicely with lightapplication of wire wheeling.

HeelSpur

I used a brass wire brush on it and didn't notice it before but the open end is 2 different sizes (1"&11/8").
Thought it was just a mistake at first but it measured out pretty accurate.

I forgot I had one, only, I don't have *that* one....

More than a little rough...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Here's a third one.

The Iron & Steel Syracuse is much more rare than the Z2. Woodbeam is more rare. Then you move to the SCP CO pre-Deere aquisition wrenchs.

Here is a badly pitted SCP 6 so y'all in the South and East can get an idea of what a whole one looks like.  At least one Missouri Valley Wrench Club member has a whole one.

Take whatever my Z2 is worth, double it for what the double hammer is worth, multiply by 10 for what the #6 is worth.....

Rusty,

We live on the White Clay Creek, one of the southernmost tributaries of the Delaware River.  A short time after I joined Missouri Valley Wrench Club, I began to collect "farm wrenches".  I gave up buying farm wrenches sometime thereafter.  I had exhausted available local supplies of them.  And finding a pristine SCP 6 wasn't in the cards, as nearly as I could tell.

Two more Syracuse wrenchs. The #4 is tough to find.

On the #4, why the round opening?
