The round spiral file is a standard pattern.

The copper handle looks like a recycled small gas bottle....

hmm

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

When I was a kid, little metal bottles like that were all the rage for making your own rocket.  You'd set up a device that punched a hole in the cap end, and it would  take off.  I think they were filled with carbon dioxide or something similar.

Correct with CO2.   The bottles had many uses.   Seltzer water bottles,  USN life jackets,  BB pistols.

We made grenades out of them.  Drilled out the cap with a 3/32 bit for the underwater cannon fuse, filled them with black powder and they made a great bang.

Grenades ??

You would be labeled a terrorist these days.    But that's OK   !    Try making a mortar with steel pipe pounded into a fire pit and then drop in  aerosol cans,  great booms too.  Schedule 80 if you can get it.
