Thanks guys.
Lately I have been working for my cousin. Work has been very slow so we has quite happy when I told him what I was thinking. He happily gave me time off to go do this. My dad would of but it would be extremely hard for him to get off work all week. Hes gonna go with my tomorrow and sunday thoe.
I just wanted to help. I couldn't afford to donate money but I have time to donate. When I called his church they said they need help clearing yards of debris. I planned on just hauling stuff to the curb all week. It came apparent they could use people tarping roofs and boarding windows.
A good amount of contractors showed up. Problem is not everyone can afford to pay right now as they wait for insurance. In the mean time the house just needs to be secured. I know personally if something happened at our house we dont have enough extra money to pay someone.
Police presence has been very good. They seem to have a handle on everything as far as ongoing safety. They have curfews in certain areas. Police at key points such as gas stations and banks along with patrolling the areas very well. Were my truck is parked they also patrol.
Utility crews have been working around the clock. Many are from different areas. From what I have heard they are doing well.
Since this is Tooltalk I will add a little in about the tools we have been using.
The first day I was there most of the tools looked like they came out of the church basement. Some looked like complete antiques and probably were. One old wood ladder broke when the guy stepped on the first step. The second day we unboxed of brand new tools. All power tools were dewalt, and chainsaws from Echo. We have a few gas cutoff saws as well. We also got Diesel generator and a skid steer and a tractor/loader.
