I have this one listed on Ebay, and I got a question from a guy who doubts that it is a saw set.  I got it with a lot of odd patented saw sets.  I am pretty sure it is one, although I cannot figure out exactly how it worked or on what kind of blades.  Does anyone recognize it and could lead me down the road to find the patent information?

Thanks,

John

I looked through all 9 pages of the plier type sets, and I did not see it.  Thanks for the reference though.  That will be a good one for me to bookmark.

What happens when the handles are squeezed together? I don't see what the purpose of the disc is.

The sharp point on the cutout part of the disc presses against the tooth, I think.  The other two small clamp things move at the same time.  I think they hold the blade.  I need to try it out on a saw.

What did this myterious naysayer offer as his thoughts for this tool?
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Combined saw set and pizza slicer?  Interesting design.

He said he thought it was some kind of electrical crimper.

That disc look slike some sort of circular blade that can be resharpened and repositioned as necessary - rather than a wire crimper it looks as though it could be a wire cutter of some sort...

Looks like your tool is missing a couple of parts, a while ago I was trying to identify a similar tool but did not have any luck. My photos of it are below. The rod sticking out of this tool has an adjustable stop on it, seems like whatever the tool is holding in its jaws can be punctured at a specific length from the end based on the position of this stop. I don't own the tool so I can't take a closer look at it.

That is the same tool as the one I have.  It does look like it is to puncture a small piece of tubing maybe.  Why would you need to poke a hole at the same distance in multiple somethings (thinking to myself)?

I am going to go back to the old tool whatsit axiom that someone I cannot remember said before on this board.  If you cannot figure it out, it is either a leatherworking tool or a nutcracker.  So, I will have to go with leatherworking tool in this case.

lol, i believe in keeping it simple too.

I was half joking about the leatherworking tool.  After I turned the computer off last night, I decided that the guy on Ebay may be right.  I think it is some kind of ferrule crimping tool, possibly electrical.  I did a google search, but did not come up with anything.  We need Rusty to tackle this one.

Most of the ferrule crimpers I came up with were from the 1950s and newer.  I am thinking 20s or 30s on this one.

With the depth stop,  am now inclined towards a glass tube cutter, or a similar function..

Is there any part of the disc that is sharp like a blade? I don't own the one in my photos so I can't take a look at it. Also it seems odd that the missing section on the disc is different in each of the tools. Does the disc look broken or do you think it was made with part of it missing?
