Reinhard McCabe Model 10

Picked this up today and found a couple others and there is one slight difference,
mine has a catch that sticks out at the end of the teeth on the handle and these two don't,
so is the one I have a newer model?

I think you are right.  Pinching pennies probably. Saved the additional rivet on the handle.

 Interesting. Since I.m putting ! hole in body,is it cheaper to put a second hole in body and add a rivet ? Assuming body is stamped out the radii of the projection look pretty tight. I guess the answer is I don't know which is cheaper. Better do a cost analysis. I have one of those wrenchs somewhere. I'll look for it tomorrow(not at first light however)

The tab is part of the original stamping.  Even if the holes are stamped out you still have to put in a rivet.  I think they should have pressed out a little dimple. They could have put a smiley face on it, whaddya think?  Maybe they broke their rivet machine and it was a different one from the handle riveting machine?

Seriously though, it looks like the rivet handle tools don't have as pronounced thread as the tabbed wrenches.  Could be picture quality though.

I think it is an earlier model. With the tab you have to final assemble the moving jaw onto the main body and upper jaw piece. With a rivet stop you can pre-assemble the lower jaw assembly and slide it onto the main body and then add the rivet if it is a stop. The tab model also creates a pinch point for the palm of your hand. Just my take. :smiley:

Lewill2 makes a good point. Another factor is the patent pending on the tab model. I can't make out writing on the riveted ones.
