Tap PVC

I need a 1/4" tap into 1" pvc in two locations both at a fitting (TEE).  It is for an irrigation fertilizer injector.  Any advise on how to approach tapping PVC other than a metal tap I know?  I suppose I'm assuming the taps I have are made for metal.  I see they make a coupling for such things (1/4" nylon barb'd), but I'm questioning it being worth $20+ and how long it'd last.  Help is much appreciated.

I don't know if you have the room to do this but if I need to tap a plastic pipe I prefer to tap it in the overlap of a glue joint. Double thickness and a little vaseline type grease on the threads (I have a gallon can need to use it on something!) knock on wood it has worked for me. btw I still haven't seen the sharpener.... still haven't found my box switches, did find the case of grease and one grease gun, where the one I used to use all the time is?

I am somewhat unsure what you mean, but Ime no plumber. What it sounds like you could you do a 3 way T with a reducing coupling on one of the ends?

Just make sure you get a pipe thread tap. So, you want a 1/4" NPT tap. Otherwise plumbing fittings won't screw into it. Can't give you any details on how to go about it though... To the best of my knowledge, just tap it like you would any piece of metal. Should be fairly easy...

Plastic taps easily, but will not hold the pressure.  I would use a p-p-fipt adapter tee. It would have 1/2" brassbthreads, but it would hold the pressure.

We use cpvc plastic regularly, and we use a lot of adapters.

The tees only cost a few  bucks.
