Galvanized Can
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:13:34 PM »
Hello, I picked up a few small tools the other day, and the seller gave me this can to put them in. It is approx. 9-1/4" in diameter, and approx. 9-1/4" tall, could not find the lid. It is stamped what appears to be 20 QUARTS LIQUID. There is what appears to be an X , or crossed swords on the 2. Third photo shows another unusual logo, a shield? heart? Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before. Heavy for its size, about 6 pounds. Thanks, Lou       P.S., I will try to post the pics of the tools tomorrow!!!!

Looks like a pressure cooker to me.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Hello, Again. If I did the math correctly, it should approx. 11 .25 quarts. Regards, Lou

I think we're on the right track with milk container.  I spotted this... it's only 10 quarts but very similar....

Hello, Al  &  Skip. Thanks for the info & the photo. I will go with 10 quarts, I am sure my math was off by a bit. Thanks again, Lou.  P.S., I posted pics of what was in the can in General Discussion.

Galvanized ? or tin plated?  Galvanized would pretty much eliminate it as a food container. Tin plate would likely point to food. Looks like an old school ice cream freezer can. Just a guess???

Does it have the catch to keep it from turning as the dasher revolves?
