Bronze or Phospor Bronze Lathe Centre ? ID Help Needed

I drank plenty of warm beer in East Africa and in England many years ago. Now I like it cold, but can drink it warm, unlike most Americans.

Let me ask you guys this; What type of threads would you say this piece has? Do they look a little funny for a plumbing faucet cartridge to you, or is it just me?

Can't tell for sure by your pic but it looks like a square thread.

I agree, they look like square threads to me as well. I have not been part of this discussion, but have watched it from day one.
I did not speak-up, because i really do not know what it is either. But, of all the valves i have seen, and worked on, ie. globe, gate, ball, butterfly, and home, and commercial faucets, i have never seen this type of square thread used? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

edit: I stand corrected by myself, as i did make a comment on the dead center theory.

 to my old eyes, they look too straight to be threads,  but like I stated, the eyes are not up to par.

Honestly, I don't drink as much as I used to, but I do enjoy beer. I don't buy expensive stuff because it almost all tastes good when cold enough.

I had a beer.

In March.

Of 1982.

I kissed my girlfriend later that night.  She asked me what that taste was.  I told her it was beer.  She told me not to kiss her after drinking beer.  I told her I wouldn't ever drink it again.

We were married three months later.

By the way, it's a valve stem. The old valves had both left and right hand screws.  Square threads were used.  You used to be able to re-grind the valves to stop leaking, now it's cheaper to replace the plastic, or even the whole socket.
