I think most Crescent style adjustable wrenches marked 4 or 4" are actually over 4 inches long. I understood the idea was equal to or under 4 inches. Mine seem to range between 4 1/8 and 4 9/16.

maybe a poll would help
poll one
have each post only have one type
have each post a jumble of tools
poll two
keep the items 4 in and under
keep the items 5 1/2 inches and under

poll three
the minimum of pieces  at ten
drop the minimum pieces
 poll four
open the thread to all with unlimited discussion
open the thread to all to view only the collectors can  post and no chatter

none of the above and remove thread completely

I see the poll but I dont see this option................open the thread to all with unlimited discussion..........This was one of Bobs suggestions.

If this isnt a viable candidate  that how about this one.............none of the above and remove thread completely.........Not sayin Im gonna go that route (OK prob. will if I cant get my way) in my rating but is that still an option?

have been approached  about forming an actual 4 in and under cyber club by those on tool talk . If there is enough interest i will pursue seeking information . my idea is that it would be a closed inventory display club set up with members to display the tools but no comments to clutter the post . each member would display the tool and description. A s far as rules i think if there is enough interest couple of tool talk members could work on it through pms what do you think?
it could include  adj wrench either specific styles or all , pliers doe or dbe wrenches. black smith tools( small blacksmiths), auto tools or any tool that is under 4 inches( no fair cutting wrenches in half) let me know on this thread  thank you  bob w.
I guess this idea of mine was totally stupid and here by ask Noel to clear the thread and remove my name from the moderators list thanks to the several members that tried to help me set it up

In an effort to understand before being understood - Maybe it might help to explain the rationale behind it's exclusivity.

I suppose I need to state it to ensure I'm not being misunderstood - I don't think the idea of a focus area for smaller tools is stupid at all.  I actually think it is a rather great idea that I would be a beneficiary of.  My issue with the current state/implementation is with excluding folks from the thread - that are regularly involved here and that support the site - as I understand it simply because they don't have one, or enough of them.

If the current 4 & under thread is removed I hope that the posts are moved to the picture thread so that the effort, information and pictures aren't lost to the members on Tool Talk.

If the members would have been patient the idea was to have the thread open to view for all  when we got the wrinkles out.I still think there are enough chatter threads on this forum to keep one busy. A view only thread would not interfere with ones want to talk. If a member does not like the thread it is only a non click to bypass it.There are threads here that I  do not have interest in. I just don't look, simple as that.i would just look down a list of pictures and descripions  without a bunch of bs in between I  am sorry but that is the way I feel apperently I am alpone so I am jumping ship   bob w.

Hey, you don't know until you try it, and I give you 10 extra brownie points for taking the time and effort to try something to improve the forum. :)

I think a small tools collections catagory makes perfect sense for the forum, and there is no reason why it can't be limited somewhat to pictures, the Picture catagory more or less is, tho some discussion occurs there....

The idea of exclusion always rubs people the wrong way, I don't think everyone understood what you were trying to do...

As to discussion, in as much as it's a forum, people kinda expect to discuss things, it is IMHO a weakness of the forum software that there is no way to add normal web pages to the forum itself, there are several things that would make a lot more sense as an information page (such as a collection of small tool pictures, lists of wrench numbers, etc etc) , but the forum can't really do that :(

isnt this all getting a little bit silly,we have a wrench section, blacksmith section etc..,why not simplify it and have a collections section,,that would surely just be a continuation of what we already have on this great site.
just my honest opinion.Ben
